Mikä on IPv6-osoite?
Jokainen on todennäköisesti kuullut IP-osoitteesta. Hyvin harvat ihmiset tietävät, mikä IPv6-osoite on. Selitämme, mistä tässä on kyse ja mihin uutta standardia tarvitaan.
IPv6- ja IPv4-osoitteet: mitä eroa on?
IP-osoitteita vaaditaan pääsyyn Internetiin. Sen mukaisesti jokaiselle laitteelle osoitetaan yksi heti, kun se muodostaa yhteyden Internetiin.
- IPv4-standardin mukaan tavalliset IP-osoitteet koostuvat korkeintaan 12 merkistä - esimerkiksi 2.280.197.209. Uusi IPv6-standardi koostuu korkeintaan 32 merkistä.
- Koska vain noin 4, 3 miljardia yhdistelmää on mahdollista IPv4: n kanssa ja Internetin käyttäjien määrä kasvaa, tarvitaan uusi standardi. Noin 340 sukupolven yhdistelmää ovat mahdollisia IPv6: lla.
- Vuodesta 2012 uusi järjestelmä otettiin käyttöön myös saksalaisille Internetin käyttäjille. Vuoteen 2015 mennessä IPv4 korvataan kokonaan Saksassa IPv6: lla. Tämä koskee sekä DSL-yhteyksiä että matkapuhelinverkkoa.
- Tavalliselle käyttäjälle ei ole tehty muutoksia. Vain hyvin vanhoilla reitittimillä voi olla ongelmia IPv6: n kanssa, ja ne olisi vaihdettava.
- Esiin nousee kysymys, miksi 4, 3 miljardia IP-osoitetta ei riitä: Oletetaan, että muutaman vuoden kuluttua Internet-yhteyteen tulee paljon enemmän laitteita kuin nykyään. Jääkaapit, kellot ja autot - kaikki voidaan yhdistää Internetiin. Jos oletetaan, että jokainen maailman asukas yhdistää useita laitteita Internetiin päivittäin, IPv4: n mahdollisuudet eivät enää ole riittävät.

- Päätelmä: IPv6 on tarpeen vain muutamassa vuodessa Internetin kasvavan käytön vuoksi. Käyttäjillä ei kuitenkaan ole mitään pelättävää ja he tuskin huomaa muutosta.
